About Iwacu Recovery Centre

Dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug addiction through comprehensive recovery programs and education.

Our Background

The devastating effects of alcohol and drug abuse are felt across the world; breaking lives, families, and communities. From children to adults, substance abuse continues to pose a major public health challenge and a growing social crisis that undermines the wellbeing of countless individuals.

In Rwanda, addiction has become a pressing concern, particularly among the youth. Recognizing this, the Government of Rwanda has taken strong measures to combat the issue; establishing and supporting rehabilitation centers, promoting vocational training for former users, engaging civil society, and expanding access to mental health services across the country.

Yet, recovery does not end with rehabilitation. True healing begins after rehab, when individuals need continued guidance, understanding, and community support to rebuild their lives. At Iwacu Recovery Centre, we stand as a bridge between rehabilitation and lasting recovery; empowering individuals to rediscover purpose, restore dignity, and find hope again.

Our Description

The Iwacu Recovery Centre is a dedicated counseling and treatment facility committed to helping individuals overcome alcohol and drug addiction, as well as related mental, psychological, and health challenges.

We walk alongside both young and adult clients; especially those transitioning from rehabilitation centers; guiding them step by step on their journey toward lasting recovery and renewed hope. At Iwacu Recovery Centre, we believe that healing thrives in connection. Whether through the shared strength of fellow recovering individuals or the encouragement of personal support networks, no one should face recovery alone.

The founding of IRC stems from a deep understanding that addiction is not an individual battle; it is a family disease. When one person suffers, the entire family feels the weight, enduring stress, disrupted routines, and emotional pain. That is why we are devoted not only to restoring lives but also to rebuilding families and communities affected by addiction.
